Exchange rates got silly

Posted by Craig Wilmott on 10 Nov 2008 | Tagged as: General

During my time around the internet i purchase alot of digital products (webhosting, software etc) from sites based in the united states mainly due to the exchange rates. Around a month ago i could change £1 of my UK pounds into nearly $2USD. Using webhosting as an example i could in most cases get a better deal with a US site rather than a UK site all because of the brilliant exchange rate.

Well that is looking a thing of the past, as of this moment my £1 now only gets me $1.56, now that is just plain silly. My webhosting is costing me more and any other digital product i require. So whats happening, someone enlighten me?

Obviously where they are losers they are winners, so if your currency is USD and you purchase digital products from the UK then it just got alot cheaper for you but i for one hope the rates go back to where they was a soon as possible, its crippling me.

Wordpress update to 2.6.3

I,ve had this blog installed for only a matter of days and already wordpress has updated their software from 2.6.2 to 2.6.3 so i just had to do a wordpress upgrade on this blog.

The upgrade process on wordpress i found to be pretty simple and straight forward with minimal effort needed, the fact that all plugins have to be deactivated before upgrade could be a pain i suppose if you have alot of plugins, as this blog is new i have none installed yet, thats my next job.

Selecting a Wordpress Theme.

To save time and effort i thought i would download a free wordpress theme for this blog and then design my own unique later when i have more time. Oh my god is all i have to say, theres thousands out there for download but 70% of them are total garbage knocked together in 20mins more than likely just to get the link back to their site. Well im still searching for the right one if not better find some time to make my own.

EDIT:

Finally found one at last, what you think, now on with the plugins.
